WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republicans for National Renewal (RNR) issued the following statement on the draft ‘Protecting Americans from Online Censorship’ executive order obtained by CNN:
“If signed, this executive order would be a bold step towards making social media platforms more free and accountable. For too long, liberal-dominated big tech companies have censored political opinions they disagree with in order to undermine our President and his administration. It is vital that the FCC and FTC take action in order to ensure that social media platforms are respecting the freedom of expression of all Americans, not just those that agree with them politically.”
RNR is calling on the President to sign this executive order at the earliest opportunity, and build on this further by backing legislative efforts for reform of Section 203 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996.
