WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republicans for National Renewal (RNR) issued the following statement on the Trump administration’s decision not to pursue executive action to guarantee the presence of a citizenship question on the 2020 census:

“It is disappointing that the administration was forced to abandon plans for an executive order due to the refusal to provide funding for a reprint by the obstructionist Chairman of the House CJS Subcommittee. The lack of a citizenship question in our census allows the opposition party to benefit electorally by turning a blind eye to violations of our immigration law. In order to maintain the democratic integrity of our elections, the administration should pursue executive action and request emergency funds and directly negotiate with the print contractor to mitigate the cost of a reprint.”

RNR is calling on the administration to reconsider the decision made not to issue an executive order and to use the aforementioned means to ensure that there is the necessary funding available for a second print-run.
